Create a video course
Available on the Business plan.
A video course is a product, like an ebook. You split it into modules (the big parts of your course) and lessons (a video, a text and files to download). After buying, your students follow it in their own course space, and Shoplit keeps track of their progress.
-
In the left menu, open Products > Create a product, then click Create a course on the Create a video course card. Shoplit creates the course right away and opens its editor. It’s called My course, it’s a Draft, and it already has a first module, Module 1.
-
The editor shows your course the way your students will see it. Click My course to change the title, and click Describe your course in a sentence or two to add a short description. Add an image sets the picture of your course. Every change is saved as you go: there’s no Save button.
-
Build your outline in the left menu. New module adds a module. Under a module, Add a lesson adds a lesson, and Add a folder groups lessons inside the module. Drag a module or a lesson by its handle to change the order, or to move a lesson to another module. Click a module to change its picture, title and description.
-
Click a lesson to open it, then click its title to rename it. Under the video area, choose how to add the video:
- Paste a link: paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or Wistia link (or its embed code), then click Add video.
- Upload a video: drop your file, or click to choose it. MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI, 2 GB max per video. Keep the tab open until the upload is done (you can keep editing your other lessons). The video is then prepared for a few minutes (Preparing the video…). You can leave the page: it carries on by itself.
-
Under the video, write the lesson’s Description. In Downloads, drop the files your students can download, like PDFs, images, ZIP files or documents (25 MB max per file).
Below, Lesson published shows or hides the lesson for your students, and Delayed unlock opens it a few days after they enroll. A new lesson is published right away. See Release lessons over time.
-
When your course is ready, click the Draft pill at the top of the editor, then choose Live. While it’s a draft, your course can’t be sold, and your students see that it’s being prepared.
-
Click Settings at the top right. In the General tab, type your Price, and a Compare-at price if you want a higher, crossed-out price next to it (read Set a price or offer a product for free first: a crossed-out price has to be a real one). Pick EUR or USD in Currency. Changes save on their own.
-
Sell your course like any other product: click Create its sales page at the top of the editor, or pick the course as the product of an existing sales page. Right after paying, your buyers get an email with an Access my course button.
Video storage
Section titled “Video storage”Your uploaded videos share 20 GB of storage, with the videos of your sales pages. The space used shows under the upload area.
- Choose from your uploaded videos reuses a video you already uploaded, without uploading it again.
- Remove video only takes the video off the lesson. It stays in your uploaded videos and keeps its space.
- To free up space, open Choose from your uploaded videos and delete the video there. It’s removed from every lesson and page that uses it.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Appearance, at the top of the left menu, sets the look of your course space: Light or Dark theme, accent color, title font and text font. It saves as you go.
- Student preview, at the top of the editor, opens your course as a student who just bought it. Progress there is only simulated: nothing is saved.
- A course counts as one AI creation in your plan (60 on Business). See Compare plans and check your creation limits.
- You can also open a course’s settings from My products, with the gear icon (Settings) on its card.
