Add tracking pixels
Available on the Pro and Business plans.
A pixel is a small piece of code from an ad platform. It tells the platform who visited your pages and who bought, so you can measure your ads and improve them. You paste your pixel’s ID once in Shoplit, and it works on all your public pages: sales pages, storefront, checkout and thank-you page, now and in the future.
-
In the left menu, click Settings, then open the Pixels & Tracking tab.
-
On the card of your platform, paste your ID in the field:
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram): the Pixel ID, 15 or 16 digits, from Meta Events Manager.
- TikTok: the Pixel ID, 20 letters and digits.
- Google Analytics 4: the Measurement ID, which starts with
G-. - Google Ads: the Conversion ID, which starts with
AW-. To count purchases and leads as conversions, also fill in their labels. - Pinterest: the Tag ID.
Not sure where to find it? Click Where do I find my ID? under the field: the steps show up right below.
-
Turn on the switch at the top right of the card.
-
Scroll down and click Save.
The settings window of each page reminds you which pixels are active.
What Shoplit sends to your pixels
Section titled “What Shoplit sends to your pixels”You don’t need to set up any event yourself. Shoplit sends them for you:
- every page: a page view;
- a sales page: a product viewed;
- the checkout: a checkout started;
- a free download, a signup form or a quiz with a form: a lead;
- after payment: a purchase, with the amount actually paid and its currency. A one-click offer accepted after the purchase counts as a separate purchase.
A purchase is only counted once, even if the buyer reloads the page.
Meta: send purchases from the server too
Section titled “Meta: send purchases from the server too”Ad blockers can stop a pixel from loading, and the sale is then lost for Meta. In the Meta card, the Conversions API (server) block fixes that: Shoplit also sends your purchases from its server.
- In Meta Events Manager, select your pixel, then Settings, and click Generate access token.
- Paste the token in Access token and click Save. The token is encrypted and never shown again.
- To check it works, use Test the connection: paste the test code shown in the Test events tab of Meta, then click Send a test purchase.
Other tools
Section titled “Other tools”For any other tool, like Snapchat, Google Tag Manager or Hotjar, paste the code it gives you in the Custom code card and turn on its switch. This code only runs on your public pages, on your Shoplit address or your own domain, and only after the visitor accepts cookies. You are responsible for what you paste there: only use code from a tool you trust.
Cookies and your visitors
Section titled “Cookies and your visitors”Pixels set advertising cookies, so your pages ask your visitors first. A banner shows up on your pages, and nothing loads before the visitor clicks Accept. Visitors who click Refuse aren’t tracked. They can change their mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of your pages.
If you go back to the Free plan, your pixel settings are kept, but nothing is loaded on your pages anymore.
