Connect your own domain

Your storefront and sales pages can live on your own address, like yourbrand.com or shop.yourbrand.com, instead of yourname.shoplit.io. You need a domain you already own, bought from a registrar like GoDaddy, Namecheap or Hostinger.

1. In the left menu, open Settings, then the Domain tab.

   

2. In the Custom domain card, type your domain in the field, then click Add.

3. Shoplit shows the DNS record to create. A DNS record tells the internet where your domain points.

   

4. At your domain provider (the company where you bought your domain), open the DNS settings and create the record exactly as shown: its Type, its Name / Host and its Value. It’s an A record for a root domain like yourbrand.com, a CNAME record for a subdomain like shop.yourbrand.com.

   Tip

   If your provider adds your domain automatically, type only the first part in Name / Host (for example shop). For a root domain, use @.

5. Back in Shoplit, click Verify. When the status turns to Active, your domain works.

It can take a few hours

DNS changes take from a few minutes to a few hours to spread. If the check fails, wait a little, then click Verify again.

Your domain still shows another website?

Remove any old A or CNAME record for that same name that points elsewhere. Leave your email records (MX, TXT) alone. Otherwise the secure (HTTPS) certificate can’t be issued.
