Edit your ebook layout

Once your ebook is generated, you can rewrite any text, add and move blocks, change the theme and control what goes on each A4 page. A block is one piece of a page: a heading, a paragraph, an image, a list, and so on.

  1. Open your ebook: in Products > My products, click its card (see Find your ebook). The editor opens.

  2. To change the look of the whole ebook, pick another theme in Theme, in the top bar.

  3. Click any text on the page to rewrite it. To rename the ebook, click its title at the top left.

  4. Click a block to open its settings on the right: Up, Down, Duplicate, Delete, then its options (for example Alignment, or Replace image to use your own picture) and its own style.

To remove a line from a list (bullets, steps, FAQ questions, cards, figures and so on), select the block. In the right panel, each item has its own row, with two arrows to move it and a cross to remove it. A block always keeps at least one item. The button under the list, like + Add item or + Add step, adds one.

  5. To add a block, click it in the Blocks library on the left: it goes right after the selected block. You can also drag it where you want it.

To arrange your blocks and pages:

    • When you hover a block on the page, its six-dot handle moves it, and two icons duplicate or delete it.
    • The Outline tab, next to Blocks, lists all blocks in order: drag them to reorder.
    • Add page, under the last page, adds a page.
  6. Click Save: the button shows Saved once everything is saved. Then click Export PDF to download your up-to-date PDF.

There is no footer in the editor. What decides where a page ends is the A4 page size:

  • Each page keeps a white margin of about 2 cm at the top and at the bottom, plus a little extra space at the bottom, so the PDF is cut exactly like the editor.
  • A block is never cut in two. If it doesn’t fit whole at the bottom of a page, it moves to the next page and leaves an empty space. That’s why a long paragraph, a list or the table of contents jumps to the next page when you make it longer or move it down.
  • Between two pages, the editor shows End of page: the exported PDF cuts at exactly the same place.
  1. In the Blocks library, find Spacer in the Layout section. Drag it just above the block you want to push down. You can also select the block above it, then click Spacer.

  2. With the spacer selected, choose its Size in the right panel: S, M or L. If there isn’t enough room left on the page, the block moves to the next page.

  • Shorten the text.
  • Split a long paragraph in two: add a Paragraph block right after it and move the end of the text into it. The first part stays at the bottom of the page, the rest goes to the next page.
  • Lower Base text size in Global style (right panel, with no block selected). It changes the whole ebook.

On the Free plan, the exported PDF also carries a small line at the bottom of every page: see Remove the Shoplit watermark from your ebook.
