Collect emails and find your contacts
Every email Shoplit collects for you lands in Contacts: your buyers, the people who download your free products, and the visitors who fill in a form in your funnels.
Find your contacts
Section titled “Find your contacts”-
In the left menu, open Marketing > Contacts.
-
Use the buttons above the list to show only some contacts: Subscribed, Not subscribed, Unsubscribed, Errored or Buyers. To find someone, type an email or a name in Search email or name.
The Source column tells you where each contact comes from: Buyer, Free lead (a free download), Email capture (a form in a funnel), Abandoned cart (a visitor who left your checkout after agreeing to your emails), Import or Manual.
-
Click Export to download all your contacts in a CSV file. You can open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
-
To see one contact, click Open on its line. Its page shows its subscription, its source, how they agreed to your emails (Consent, for example Free download, box ticked) and its purchases. If a buyer or someone who downloaded a free product lost their access, click Resend access: they get the delivery email again.
Only Subscribed contacts receive your email campaigns. A contact who unsubscribes or reports one of your emails as spam becomes Unsubscribed, for good.
Collect emails with a free product
Section titled “Collect emails with a free product”Set the price of a product to 0: your sales page then asks visitors for their first name, last name and email before they get the file. Each of them is added to your contacts as a Free lead. They are Subscribed only if they tick I agree to receive emails (offers, news). Optional. See Set a price or offer a product for free.
Ask your buyers for consent
Section titled “Ask your buyers for consent”By default, your buyers are added as Subscribed. To ask for their consent instead, open Settings > Email Marketing and tick Show a marketing consent checkbox on my checkout, then choose:
- Pre-checked (opt-out): the box is already ticked, and buyers who untick it aren’t subscribed.
- Unchecked (opt-in): only buyers who tick the box themselves are subscribed.
The box shows on your paid checkout right away, on every plan.
Get back visitors who leave your checkout
Section titled “Get back visitors who leave your checkout”A visitor who types their email at checkout but doesn’t pay can receive your cart recovery emails, but only if they agreed to it themselves. On Shoplit, that means ticking the consent box at checkout.
-
In the left menu, click Settings, then open the Email Marketing tab.
-
Tick Show a marketing consent checkbox on my checkout, then choose Unchecked (opt-in).
-
Tick Ask for first name, last name and email on my checkout (needed for cart recovery). Each box is saved as soon as you click it: there’s no Save button.
Your checkout then asks for the visitor’s first name, last name and email, with the box I agree to receive marketing emails. A visitor who ticks it and leaves without paying gets the emails of your Abandoned cart automation (Pro and Business plans), and is added to your contacts when their first reminder is due. A visitor who doesn’t tick it is never contacted.
For the emails to go out, turn on an Abandoned cart automation in Marketing > Automations (a new automation is inactive), and set up your sending domain in Settings > Email Marketing. Without an active automation, no email goes out and the visitor isn’t added to your contacts. See Automations and abandoned cart.
